Rajinikanth heaps praise on PV Sindhu

Rajinikanth has showered praise on Indian shuttler P.V. Sindhu, who ended her Rio 2016 Olympic campaign by winning a silver medal in the women's singles badminton event.

Megastar Rajinikanth has showered praise on Indian shuttler PV Sindhu, who ended her Rio 2016 Olympic campaign by winning a silver medal in the women’s singles badminton event. “Hats off to you PV Sindhu. I have become a great fan of yours. Congratulations!” Rajinikanth wrote on his Twitter page.

Sindhu, who has become the first Indian woman to win an individual Olympics silver medal, has made the nation proud, including members of film fraternity here.

Calling her a champion, actor R. Madhavan wrote: “The whole country celebrated with every scream. Thank you for the glory and the pride. Rock on and conquer.”

Actor Siddharth saluted Sindhu, and wrote: “What a great day for Indian sport. Young girls and boys everywhere have a new idol. And this one is just getting started.”

PV Sindhu got India its first silver on Thursday at Rio Olympics 2016 and the country can’t thank the shuttler enough. She may have lost the badminton singles match to world number one Carolina Marin but she won a billion hearts with her superlative effort.

As the match began, twitterati and Bollywood celebs were cheering the 21-year-old Sindhu on. Salman Khan shared a picture of Sindhu and him together and wrote, “Saw d finals on tv with my mom and told her I hv a picture with Sindhu . Proud .”

Amitabh Bachchan, an avid sports fan who has been cheering the contingent ever since Olympics began, took to Twitter to write, “#PVSindhu you played your heart out ! All of India is so so proud of you .. Thank for giving us that moment of pride !!! T 2353 – #PVSindhu .. look what you did .. you had 1.25 billion people rooting for you !! That is no mean achievement ! Proud of you !!”
