This is not the first time that Salman will be working with Kabir. The duo has worked in films such as Ek Tha Tiger in 2012 and last year’s National Award-winning film Bajrangi Bhaijaan.
Salman, 50, is rumoured to be playing a man-child in the movie, which the director has said, is a mix of emotion and humour with a little political backdrop. While reports are suggesting that Deepika Padukone will play Salman’s leading lady in the film, others are suggesting that a Chinese actress will make her debut in the film.
There is also buzz that Salman will be singing in Tubelight. He had famously rendered Hero in Sooraj Pancholi-starrer and followed it up with singing many songs in Sultan. However, his versions didn’t find a place in the film.
Tubelight is a period film with 1962’s Indo-Chinese war as the backdrop. It is essentially a love story. Salman has been cast opposite his real-life brother Sohail Khan in the film. Tubelight is scheduled to release on Eid next year.
