India recovered from the sluggish start to end the day at 302/4 against West Indies in the first Test in Antigua. India lost the services of opener Murali Vijay early and Shikhar Dhawan lead the recovery with a gritty Cheteshwar Pujara. Pujara was looking solid before he miscued a Bishoo delivery. Pujara’s departure made way for Virat Kohli who changed the course of the game. India’s Test captain injected urgency and put on brisk hundred runs with Dhawan for the third wicket. The duo were taking the game away from the opposition before Dhawan fell for 84 at the stroke of Tea.
R Ashwin was a surprise promotion at no.6 position and the offie didn’t dissapoint as he hung around with Kohli to safely see off the remaining period of the day. Kohli hit his 12th Test hundred, 5th as Test captain, and also entered the 3000-run Test club. A good total under their belt, India would now like to see off the morning session, where West Indies are expected to take the second new ball, and push the score over the 400-run mark.
