Pokémon GO has become the biggest mobile game in US history, according to data from SurveyMonkey. Earlier data from SimilarWeb showed the game is bigger than Tinder when it came to total install base on Android phones in the US.

SurveyMonkey’s data also shows  Pokémon GO in the US has more daily active users (DAUs) than CandyCrush Saga did in 2013, Draw Something in 2012, Slither.io in 2016, Clash Royale in 2016. The data shows Pokémon GO’s DAUs crossed 20 million, in just a couple of days since launch.

Pokémon GO attracted more users than Twitter within three days of its release and it rose to the top of App Store revenue charts, earning millions of dollars a day for its publisher, Niantic, shows the data.

SurveyMonkey pegs Pokémon GO’s DAUs at just under 21 million in the United States, and says this surpasses Candy Crush saga which had a peak US audience of 20 million.

But the Pokémon GO phenomena could soon outdo other apps as well, predicts SurveyMonkey. In fact it could pass “Snapchat within a couple of days on Android,” as well as Google Maps.

Festive offer

According to SurveyMonkey’s Data, Google Maps and Snapchat have around 14-15 million daily active users each on Android in the US, and Pokémon GO has already crossed 11 million users. The hype and attention around the game means this number is likely to rise.

However, SurveyMonkey cautions against declaring Pokémon GO a win for Nintendo’s business, and points out the company has a minority stake in the game. Plus games that start on a hype are unable to ride the wave forever, notes the report. Draw Something, Angry Birds, Candy Crush Saga; there are countless examples of games which go viral, but eventually lose momentum.  For now, Nintendo’s shares have been rising ever since the game launched.

SurveyMonkey notes that if Pokémon GO can “retain its legions of new users and convert them into highly engaged and paying players, then it could be a huge financial success.”

Financial success or not, Pokemon GO has managed to chalk up some serious attention.

SimilarWeb’s data showed Pokémon GO is already installed on 5.16 per cent of all Android devices in the US, a number that has likely grown in the last two days.  Their data also showed the game has a very high number of Daily Active Users (DAUs) with 60 per cent of those who downloaded the game using it daily. SimilarWeb predicted the game will beat Twitter on DAUs in some days.

And let’s not forget: Pokémon GO is not yet available globally, but millions of people are playing it across the world.
