    MUMBAI: Hitachi Consulting Software Services India Pvt. Ltd. in India has extended their paid maternity leave period to six months from three months.

    The organisation also includes the new born baby into the company’s medical insurance policy right from birth, the company said in a release on Monday.

    The company has also put together a host of post maternity policies that include flexible work hours with exclusive shift allowances and work from home options.

    “This is yet another step in our commitment towards building a culture that offers our women employees the opportunities to continue to build their career and address their personal priorities as well,” said Feroze Mohammed, executive vice president, Hitachi Consulting Software Services India.

    Approximately 35% of the company’s last year hires were women. “The extended maternity leave, flexible work hours, work from home options and our in house new mother support facilities are ways of showing we care and value our women employees,” said Vikas Kaul, vice president, human capital management, Hitachi Consulting India.

    The company has facilities such as a kids’ area, feeding room and a nurse through the day to provide new mothers the ease and comfort required on resuming work. Other facilities include washing machines, stove, bathing tub, refrigerators, baby carriages, etc.
