    Jabong's Sanjeev Mohanty likely to head Levi's India

    BENGALURU: Jabong CEO Sanjeev Mohanty, who was brought on board to turn around the struggling fashion e-tailer, is likely to be named as the new India head of denim wear giant Levi's, people directly familiar with the matter said. Mohanty is expected to take up the new assignment once Jabong's ongoing discussions to find a buyer are wrapped up in the coming weeks.

    The local unit of Levi Strauss & Co has been sear ching for a new managing director after Sanjay Purohit left to join private equity firm Samara Capital.

    Mohanty is credited with building Benetton into the largest foreign fashion brand in the country during his 11-year stint with the Eu ropean major. He also steered some key brands of Madura Lifestyle & Fashion and had spent two years as product manager at Levi's at the beginning of his career.

    Mohanty declined to comment, while Levi Strauss & Co could not be reached immediately .
