PIMPRI CHINCHWAD: A total of 1,336 flats will be allotted to beneficiaries of the economically weaker sections by the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation under their urban renewal mission. Currently, 6,250 flats are being constructed at Chikhle.

Joint commissioner Dilip Gawde said, "We had prepared a priority list of people for allotting flats. We have directed the beneficiaries to pay the self-contribution share of Rs 3.26 lakh and made a tie-up with banks to give loans to those who do not have the money to pay." Earlier, a delegation of Kamgar Kashtakari Panchayat (KKP) office bearers had submitted a memorandum to municipal commissioner Dinesh Waghmare demanding the civic body to construct all 13,250 flats, as per the proposal. Pralhad Kamble, KKP general secretary said, "We have been agitating for early completion and allotment of constructed flats for seven years now. PCMC must construct 13,250 flats for the poor under the EWS housing project. "
