Put Gurgaon on Smart-City list: Builders
"We demand that Gurgaon be declared as the smart city as it already meets most of the criteria," NAREDCO Chairman Rajeev Talwar said.
NEW DELHI: Realtors' body NAREDCO on Saturday demanded that Gurgaon should be included in the government's Smart City programme as the city meets most of the criteria. Altogether 100 cities are to be developed under the government's Smart City mission. So far, the Ministry of urban development minister has declared list of 33 cities under this programme.
"We demand that Gurgaon be declared as the smart city as it already meets most of the criteria," NAREDCO Chairman Rajeev Talwar said. Haryana government and private sector have already made lot of investment for the development of this city, he added. "Gurgaon is called millennium city and it is a BPO capital. The city now needs very less investment to make it smart," Talwar said.
NAREDCO President Parveen Jain said that a memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed between its members and Haryana government for the development of Haryana with special attention on Gurgaon.
Talwar said that Gurgaon deserves to be declared as a smart city as the city has requisite infrastructure including metro rail network.
