Lapachhapi became the first Marathi film to be screened at the Brooklyn Film Festival last Sunday  when the movie held its world premiere at Windmill Studios, USA. It was also the first Indian horror film to be screened at the festival since 19 years of its inception.

Braving thundershowers, a good number of foreign as well as Indian viewers turned up to watch the film.

Speaking to Indian Express.com, S. Ramachandran, associate producer of Lapachhapi said, “The response of the audience was quite overwhelming. They emoted at the right places and we knew that the film had struck the right chord not just with the Indian diaspora but the locals in the US as well which was what we wanted to achieve day one. The foreign audience understood the pulse of the film.”
