INDORE: Infighting and lack of consensus within Indore Development Authority (IDA) is likely to take centre stage in the next meeting as the body struggles to nab people who are violating land lease agreements.

The IDA board has proposed a meeting on May 27 to discuss as many as 40 issues, but the sources within the board said that issue of people violating land agreements is likely to haunt IDA chairman Shankar Lalwani the most. "Despite several board meetings over a span of one year, IDA has not been able to chalk out a clear strategy on how we are going to punish people who had been violating the agreement," a board member told TOI.

According to IDA officials, in sector 94 there are eight lands lease violations, where residential properties have been used for commercial purposes.

"At sector 71 C, we have reported a similar land lease violation where a residential property has been used for commercial purposes by its owner. The matter has come to our knowledge and is likely to be discussed by the board," an IDA board member told TOI.

The meeting is also supposed to discuss public utility 4 (PU-4) scheme, where IDA has proposed to bring tea vendors and provincial store owners from Siyaganj area as the current problem is that the land allotted has been used by developers to build several malls in the area. In May first week, Vijay Malani, a board member, had written series of letter to the IDA chairman seeking his attention on land lease violations and demanding his explanation on the loss of revenue because of the same. The board would be meeting for the first time after its budget declaration in April. According to IDA chairman Shankar Lalwani, the meeting would also include discussions on how to work on the announcements made during the budget sessions.

The meeting would include identifying land for the allocation to educational institutions, and development of lands for IT companies in the city. "We are also looking for the development of temporary bus stand at scheme 94 at the eastern ring road. The focus would be on providing more services more services to passengers," Lalwani said while talking to the media.

IDA chairman also added that the board will also discuss development of residential houses for poor at Jhoom Ghat area in Rau under Atal Ashraya Yojana housing scheme of the state government.
