GURGAON: Residents of Sector 45 have appealed in the Supreme Court after the high court refused to give a stay on the construction of a school which was taking up part of a road. The portion of the road was allegedly sold off by a real estate developer to a school.

Residents had approached the Punjab and Haryana High Court two years ago with the issue after which Huda had reportedly submitted an affidavit, promising to make an alternative route. However, the alternative route was never developed and the land has allegedly been sold by the developer to a school.

The road lies close to Greenwood City, a project of Unitech, and passes through sectors 44 and 45, which are Huda sectors. More than 2,000 families that live in the Sector 45 find it difficult to access the market, national highway 8 and Huda City Centre Metro station due to the construction.

"We have to take an alternative 2 kilometer long route to reach Huda City Centre metro station which lies just 250 meters away from my house," said Ahmed Mohamed, a resident.

The school is being constructed in an area of 1000 square yards and obstructs the movement of at least 2,000 families.

Unitech refused to make any comment in the matter.
