Quikr launches fleet of trucks to strengthen home delivery service
Quikr says the fleet will help it facilitate price negotiation, payment, pick-up and delivery
Bengaluru: Online classifieds firm Quikr India Pvt. Ltd on Wednesday launched a fleet of trucks to strengthen Quikr Doorstep, its home delivery service. The company said this will help it facilitate price negotiation, payment, pick-up and delivery.
The fleet will work in parallel with Quikr’s external logistics partners, the company said in a statement.
“A key part of this is to offer a seamless way for consumers to move goods around. It’s not an easy problem to solve because, unlike e-commerce, it involves two separate consumer touch points instead of one. But that’s precisely wherein lies the opportunity to bring convenience to the consumers and we feel we owe it to them,"said Pranay Chulet, founder & chief executive of Quikr, in a statement.
E-commerce companies have significantly enhanced logistics capabilities to compete in a market that is expected to see $48-60 billion online retail sales by 2020 from $4.47 billion in 2014, according to a report by financial services firm UBS AG published in April last year.
Amazon.in has invested in increasing the number of warehouses from eight to 21 last year. Snapdeal (Jasper Infotech Pvt. Ltd) has infused about 237 crore for a 42% stake in GoJavas to improve its speed of order deliveries. Flipkart Ltd has bought back its logistics business from WS Retail Services Pvt. Ltd thought a new entity called Instakart Services Pvt. Ltd.
