Man calls MLA about jobs in guise of officer

A person identifying himself as the agriculture commissioner recently made calls to BJP MLA Medha Kulkarni and Yogesh Gholap, son of former state minister Babanrao Gholap's son, asking them to send unemployed people to him for jobs in his department.

Pune: A person identifying himself as the agriculture commissioner recently made calls to BJP MLA Medha Kulkarni and Yogesh Gholap, son of former state minister Babanrao Gholap's son, asking them to send unemployed people to him for jobs in his department.
Kulkarni, decided to cross-check the information and called the agriculture commissioner, who denied any recruitment drive.
On Monday, joint director of agriculture Sudhir Nanaware (49) lodged a complaint against the unknown caller with the Bund Garden police station.
Police said the caller had identified himself to be the agriculture commissioner and urged the politicians to send their close associates or party workers for appointment in different posts in the agriculture department.
Senior inspector of Bund Garden police station Madan Bahadarrpure said MLA Kulkarni and Gholap then called agriculture commissioner Vikas Deshmukh to verify the claim. Deshmukh told them that he had not made any such call.Bahadarrpure said police had booked the unknown cellphone caller for allegedly impersonating as the agriculture commissioner. He has been booked under the sections 170 (Personating a public servant) and 419 (cheating by personation) of Indian Penal Code.
