Rs 6.48 cr housing loan waived for Bommanakatte

The amount includes Rs 3.60 crore principal and Rs 2.88 crore interest

SHIVAMOGGA: The government has waived loans to the tune of Rs 6.48 crore availed by poor people to construct houses under Ashraya Scheme at Bommanakatte.

Announcing this, Shivamogga ML A K B Prasanna Kumar said that housing minister Ambareesh will disburse loan clearance-cum-housing rights among 1,443 beneficiaries at a function on Monday. Kumar said the amount includes Rs 3.60 crore principal and Rs 2.88 crore interest.

"Those who have cleared their loan do not get any benefit," he said, and added that the government has also approved the construction of houses for slum-dwellers near Vidyanagar area.

The MLA said that the government has agreed to release Rs 25 crore for completing the work on the new jail complex on the outskirts of the city.
