NOIDA: A slew of under construction projects were reviewed by Rama Raman, Chairperson and CEO, Noida Authority on Monday. The infrastructure projects on Raman’s radar included the sector 18 multi-level parking and the widening of the bridge flanks along the Shadara drain. Satisfied with the progress of the projects, which will provide major relief to traffic in the area, he directed officials to chart out road maps and implement them towards completion of the projects in a time-bound manner after due inspection and monitoring.

Emphasizing a gridlock free city to be the need of the hour, Raman expressed satisfaction on the progress of the under-construction projects. "The aim is to decongest the area in the vicinity of Sector 18 and two leading Malls, which witness heavy traffic density. Also entry and exit points of Noida need to be congestion free," said Saumya Srivastava, Deputy CEO, Noida. "Once in place, the projects will provide commuters smooth vehicular movement," he added.

Raman had last month announced that the multi-level parking in sector 18 will be ready by June 2016. The two bridge flanks being widened across the Shadara drain at Film City and Okhla barrage are to be in place by April and May 2016, respectively. The revamp project of the Shahdara bridges aims to widen the existing four-lane bridges to eight-lane bridges. Additional two lanes on each side of the existing bridges are being constructed. Once the width of the bridges is doubled, commuters will enjoy a smooth ride to Delhi, Faridabad and Ghaziabad. The multi-level parking facility, which is part of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav’s projects announced in April 2013, will house six floors including two basements and be able to park 3085 vehicles.

Meanwhile, Raman also viewed the presentation of the development along the Hindon River front corridor. "Four companies have qualified technically for the project," Srivastava said. "The presentations made by the respective companies was viewed on Monday. These will now be evaluated before finalizing of the financial bids is completed and the agency for developing the corridor appointed," he explained. "This could take a few days," he added.

"The objective of river front development project is to deal with encroachment as well as to ensure a clean Hindon. Once developed, the corridor will also offer picnic spots to general public," Srivastava said. The project involves developing recreational facilities like parks, yoga centers, picnic spots and sports centers without disrupting the natural flow of Hindon and Yamuna. "Exhibition centers, specific hawker zones for weekly, seasonal markets, etc is on the cards," he added.
