    Airlines flew 7.7 million passengers in India during January, up 22.58% from a year ago

    GoAir came second by flying 84.9% of its seats full, followed closely by IndiGo, which flew its planes with 84.7% seats full.

    NEW DELHI: Airlines flew about 7.7 million passengers in India during January, 22.58% more than that a year ago, according to the data released by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation.

    Experts attributed the increase to lower fares offered by airlines owing to cheaper fuel. IndiGo continued its leadership position during the month, flying 35.6% of the total passengers during the month.

    Jet Airways group was second with a 21.4% share, while Air India remained third with a16% share.

    In terms of load factor, SpiceJet continued to lead by flying its planes with 92.1% of seats full. GoAir came second by flying 84.9% of its seats full, followed closely by IndiGo, which flew its planes with 84.7% seats full.

    Vistara was the most punctual airline, though, as it flew 86.6% of its flights on time, followed by Jet Airways and JetLite that flew 75.4% of its flights on time. IndiGo came third, flying 75% of its flights on time during the month.
