“This is a very special moment for me. I am back to my college after so many years. There is only one thing that I am missing. My children are not with me today as I wanted to show them every corner of my college. For me, this is the most special moment in my life because whatever I know and have learnt in my life is because of the college. Though my school was beautiful but my college taught me how to be who I became,” said Khan. Sharma was quick to add, “We are very happy and proud to bestow him with the degree after so many years. We had kept his degree safely in our college.” The actor also signed the register after taking the DU graduate degree. The Dilwale star had arrived with Fan’s director Maneesh Sharma.

Later in the day, Khan also held a media conference at PVR Priya Cinemas, to promote Fan. On being asked whom he was a fan of, Khan said, “There were two-three people I grew up really loving. There was no internet back then to be able to read up or collect a picture. I loved stories about Milkha Singh and on him being a champion. The second was Muhammad Ali since I was into sports and so I always liked him being little brash and bratty, yet being so good at his sport. I was one of those who grew up being Amitabh Bachchan’s fans. Because I was into sports, I was a fan of Sunil Gavaskar and Olympian Bruce Jenner, who has become Caitlyn Jenner,” he said.

Khan also stressed on the impact films and celebrities have on their fans in many ways but he hopes the influence is more positive than negative. As he narrated the story of a girl from Germany who wasn’t able to walk, but after having her wish of meeting him fulfilled, she went on to marry and have a child. “Celebrities can have an amazing effect on fans. I have 50 to 100 such incidents of positive impact which I don’t talk about because these are personal incidents. It is strange how close we get to people and how our work influences them in a ways we can ever imagine,” said Khan.
