Federation of Indian Airlines register protest with MoS-PMO Jitendra Singh

    Synopsis

The delegation members included IndiGo promoter Rahul Bhatia and President Aditya Ghosh, SpiceJet CMD Ajay Singh and GoAir MD Jeh Wadia.

    ET Bureau
NEW DELHI: A delegation of airlines operators, under the banner of Federation of Indian Airlines (FIA), representing Jet Airways, IndiGo, SpiceJet and Go Air, today called on MoS-PMO Jitendra Singh here today and said that their representation is not being sought in the new civil aviation policy.
“They sought Government's intervention to incorporate some of their concerns while finalising the National Civil Aviation Policy being prepared by the civil aviation ministry,” said a government release.

The delegation members included IndiGo promoter Rahul Bhatia and President Aditya Ghosh, SpiceJet CMD Ajay Singh and GoAir MD Jeh Wadia.

They raised their opposition on the removal of 5 year and 20 aircraft international flying norms and plans to auction bilateral rights.

“They complained that while no other country in the world allows substantial ownership and effective control of its airlines to be taken over by foreign Airlines, India has permitted some airlines to operate despite being effectively controlled by their foreign parent,” said a release from the government.

‘The memorandum also drew attention to the fact that while, for the already operating domestic Airlines, the condition laid down by the Civil Aviation Ministry is to serve for at least 5 years and own at least 20 aircrafts before applying for rights to fly abroad, the new policy is said to exempt the new Airlines from this obligation which will amount to injustice towards the already operating Airlines, the release added.

Release further said that Singh assured that their concerns would be put up before the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
