With Make In India week starting today, Amazon India has setup a dedicated 'Make in India' store featuring products across various categories that are manufactured in India, including products from hundreds of Indian and International brands.
Amazon said that it will also be featuring India-made products prominently on its US website, providing consumers access to products from over 6,000 Indian manufacturers and sellers. Among the products being offered include tapestry, toys, Indian handicrafts, Ayurveda products, yoga accessories, nautical instruments and others.

"The Amazon platform, with innovations such as Easy Ship, Fulfillment by Amazon and Global Selling, can serve as a strong enabler for Indian manufactures, artisans, and businesses to reach customers not only in India but also across the globe" said Amit Agarwal, VP and Country Head, Amazon India.

In June last year, Amazon had extended its global selling program to India, enabling Indian manufacturers to reach out to consumers across the world starting with the United States and the United Kingdom. Over the past few months, the company has expanded the program to seven additional markets including Japan and Germany.

Earlier this week, Amazon also stated plans of offering short-term working capital loans ranging between Rs 5 lakh and Rs 2 crore to key Indian sellers to keep them from shifting loyalties to rivals Flipkart and Snapdeal that have similar lending schemes.

The e-commerce giant said it launched a pilot programme in September last year and claims to have disbursed loans of crores of rupees to hundreds of small and medium enterprises or SMEs through the third-party seller financing platform Capital First.

Amazon which counts India as one of its key markets, had invested Rs 1,980 crore in its Indian unit. This is the largest single infusion of capital by Amazon in India and comes just three months after investing Rs 1,696 crore in its Indian operations. The firm has invested over Rs 6,700 crore since January 2015.
