BENGALURU: App-based fashion discovery platform Wooplr has roped in founder of fashion ecommerce venture Koovs' Rajesh Kamra to head social commerce. Rajiv Mehta, chief executive officer of Arvind Sports and Fashion brands will join the company as a senior advisor for an equity stake.
The company founded in 2012 pivoted from an offline to online discovery platform to an ecommerce affiliate model in 2015. Apart from working with ecommerce portals, the social-buying platform is also partnering with offline brands to provide a full stack solution from SKU digitisation to managing logistics.

“Offline brands such as Zara, Forever 21 among others have partnered with us to reach out to their target group. We are now eying expansion by adding long tail merchants,” said Arjun Zacharia, chief executive officer of Wooplr.

The social-buying platform typically earns 20% commission per transaction through its portal. “The technology integration we do provides value to offline brands which haven’t been digitised so far,” said Kamra who has been working on his second venture, Wiev Technologies for the past two years.

The company which had raised close to.`30 crore in Series-A round of funding from Helion in February last year competes with Tiger Global-funded social commerce channel Roposo.
